AMGEN Tour De California 2007

Yeeeeeehaaaaaaaaw. California will soon be on the World Bicycle Tours map of maps.

Yesterday, the first leg of the Tour began. Racers bicycled from Sausalito to Santa Rosa ala Tomales, Valley Ford, Bodega Bay, Occidental and then to Santa Rosa.

First two pictures here were of the pack (which hadn't stretched out yet) approaching Valley Ford. Coming and Going. Third picture was the leaders doing their final three laps around the town square in Santa Rosa.

Touts say that in 10 to 15 years this may be the biggest bicycle event on planet earth. Yes, bigger than the Tour De France and other races.

The weather was GREAT, the crowds were contented and energetic and the DEAD PRESIDENTS SMILED from their front row seats in the cosmos.

The Tour De California goes on tomorrow with the second leg of the tour. They'll race from Santa Rosa to Sacramento.
